Cora was the oldest daughter of Moses Jarman and Hester Matilda Shivers Jarman, who were married February 18, 1884. She attended Southwest Primative Baptist Church and married Solomon Rhodes there on May 15, 1907. He was a fisherman and owned a houseboat at Queen's Creek in Hubert. Their children were Nellie Isabelle Rhodes Rochelle born April 12, 1908; Effie Nacy Rhodes Bell born May 4, 1910; Mabry Moses born Oct. 31, 1912; James SOlomon born Nov. 19, 1914; Cora Florence Rhodes Batson born May 12, 1917; John Richard born Sept. 7, 1919; Elsie Bertha Rhodes Pickett Fonville born Aug. 13, 1922; Hazel Matilda Rhodes Reece born Jan. 11, 1925; and Daisy Lee Millie Rhodes Burns born Jan. 10, 1928. Solomon's parents were Melissa Bloomfield Littleton and Durante Rhodes from Onslow County. Solomon remarried Alice Elizabeth Guthrie after Cora's death.
