BELMONT, MS – Rada Ivy Malone, 92, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Courtyards Community Center, Fulton, MS. She was born in Tishomingo County, MS and was a retired teacher. She was a member of Second Street Church of Christ where she was church secretary for many years.
Services will be Saturday, August 26, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. David Conley and Rev. Earl McAnally officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters – Donna and Robert Hester and Denise and Keith Parrish; three grandchildren – Beverly Hester Mann and Daniel, Andrew Parrish and Megan and Leslie Parrish Fetterly and Dominic; two great-grandchildren – Eliana Mann and Rhys Parrish; a host of Ivy nieces and nephews and Malone nieces and nephews and her childhood best friend – Nadine Patton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. C.L. and Ella Flora Newell Ivy and her husband of 59 years, Preston Malone. She was the last of thirteen siblings – Grover, Austin, Houston, Otha, Troy, Ruth, Bernice, Mary, Gladdis, Evelyn, Lorene, Roy and Mildred.
Pallbearers will be Alan Williams, Jeffrey Higginbottom, Joey Moore, Jerry Dees, Gene Searcy and Steve Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Hester, her caregiver for three and one-half years and Gentiva Hospice Staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lindsey Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 675, Belmont, MS 38827.
