THOMAS F. BLEWITT DIES; BAY RIDGE REALTY DEALER
A solemn mass of requiem for Thomas F. Blewitt, Bay Ridge real estate operator and civic leader, who at one time was Big Chief of 12:30 Club of Bay Ridge, will he offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Our Lady of Angela R. C. Church, 4th Ave. and 73d St. The funeral will be from the Clarin Funeral Home, 7722 4th Ave. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Farmingdale.
Mr. Blewitt, who in recent years was in business for himself, with offices at 476 74th St., died on Wednesday in Holy Family Hospital at the age of 69. His home was at 7721 Ridge Boulevard.
Born in Pittston, Pa., he learned telegraphy there an at one time was telegraph operator for one of the eastern railroads. He came to Brooklyn 46 years ago as an operator for the B. R. T. Company, He worked his way up to be superintendent in charge of the Southern Division which included the Sea Beach, 4th Ave., West Eng Brighton Beach, Culver and Broadway (Manhattan) lines.
Mr. Blewitt gave up transit work in 1923 and for nearly 20 years was associated with the real estate firm of Bulkey & Horton in Bay Ridge. He started his own business three years ago.
Mr. Blewitt was active in the Bay Ridge Real Estate Board. He joined the 12:30 Club of Bay Ridge many years ago and was one of the early heads of the organization. He was a member also of the Elks and of Dongan Council, Knights of Columbus. His widow, Mrs. Helen Vroman, survives.
