Ellen Jean Newberry Harman, 74 years of age, of Raven, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her home. Born May 15, 1949, in Richlands, VA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Daniel and Rosaley Plaster Newberry.
Ellen was a Godly woman who loved serving her Lord. She was a proud 1968 graduate of Richlands High School. Ellen enjoyed reading, sitting on the porch, listening to preaching on the radio and reading her Bible. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of her favorite things to do. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents Andrew and Rosaley Newberry, she is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Eddie Harman; sisters Bertha Newberry, Arbutus McGhee, Arizona Allen; brother Dennis Newberry.
Survivors include sons Mark Edward Harman and wife Shawnta of Shortt Gap, VA, Steve Matthew Harman of Shortt Gap, VA; sister Leona Campbell of Louisville, KY.
She is also survived by grandchildren Samantha Hess and Fiancé Jared Muncy, Austin Harman, Matthew Harman, special great grandson Weston, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ellen Jean Newberry Harman will be held at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Keen Mountain, VA, on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Bobby Keen and Caleb Keen officiating. Burial will follow at the Harman Cemetery, Rt 626, Oakwood, VA.
Active pallbearers will be Jared Muncy, Austin Harman, Mark Harman, Joe Keen, Caleb Keen, Zach Wimmer, Joshua Harman, Steve Harman, and Luke Keen.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 6:00 pm with a song service at 7:00.
