JOSEPH THOMAS WHITE, 73, died last Friday morning at 7 o'clock at the Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he had been under treatment since July 31. Death was due to histoplasmosis and following an illness of about four months. Mr. White was a native of Taylor County, the youngest of 10 children of John and Malissa Wise White. As a young man, following his marriage to Miss Martha Florence Smith, he was employed at the Brown-Forman Distillery and, later, with the Burks Spring Distilling Company at Loretto. Afterward, he was engaged in road contracting and farming and, for several years prior to his death, was employed at St. Mary's College. His wife survives, and six children, Mrs. Aline Kirkpatrick and Miss Mary Eva White of Louisville, Mrs. Charles T. Mudd, Charles and Ray White of St. Mary, and Lieutenant William A. White, U.S. Air Force, Godman Field, Fort Knox. A daughter, Mrs. Edith Russell, preceded her father to the grave six years ago. There are 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, John D. White of Louisville, and two sisters; Miss Alice White of Lebanon and Mrs. W. H. Wheatley of St. Mary. The remains were taken to the Bosley Funeral Home and on Saturday were returned to the residence at St. Mary. Funeral services, with solemn Requiem Mass, were conducted Monday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Charles Church by the pastor, Rev. Fred W. Dudine, assisted by the Rev. Ernie Schumacher and the Rev. Fabian Dietrich of St. Mary's College. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers wer Nace Blandford, William Wheatley, Oscar Mattingly, George Mann, George DeNardi and Goldie Mattingly.

Buried in St. Charles Cemetery, St. Mary, Ky. Section D, Card 41, # 97. The book about St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery by Gerald Thompson, states that his marker has the inscription: "Thomas White b. 5-24-1879 - d. 8-08-1952."
