Memorial services for Ruth Hawkins Abbott, age 79, of 117 Sardis Street, Barnesville, will be held Monday, June 9, 2008 from the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Windom officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service. Interment will follow at a later date in Lamar Memory Gardens.

Millie Ruth died June 7, 2008, Saturday morning, at her residence. She was born May 26, 1929 in Pike County, Georgia to the late Herman Lewis and Effie Presley Hawkins. She was retired from Southeastern Textiles of Griffin where she worked for many years as a seamstress. Mrs. Abbott was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church of Barnesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Corry Lee Abbott; son, Mr. Fred Terrell Burton; and a daughter, Sandra T. Burton Ely.

Surviving are daughter, Beverly O'Dell Corley of Barnesville; brother, B.T. Hawkins of Covington, GA; sister, Dora Hawkins Mayes of Macon, GA; and two grandsons, Corry 'Ray' Corley of Orchard Hill, GA and Craig Burton of Deltona, FL.
