Leon A. Jarrett, 71, of Jonesborough, died Monday at the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was a son of the late Sherman and Lucy Bowman Jarrett.
He was a member of Community Baptist Church for 25 years and recently became a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mr. Jarrett was a retired inspector for the Department of Agriculture and had worked for the Washington County D.H.I.A.
He also was a farmer.
"He enjoyed camping, fishing and farming. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family," his family noted.
Survivors include his wife: Betty Deadrick Jarrett; two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael Leon and Judy Jarrett and Randall Lewis and Lisa Jarrett, all of Jonesborough; three grandchildren: Amie Jarrett, Colby Jarrett, and Hannah Jarrett, all of Jonesborough; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Vera Lee and Gene Graybeal of Johnson City, Janice and Ralph Shipley, his twin Leona Farmer, and Barbara and Ted Thompson, all of Jonesborough; and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul and Edna Ruth Jarrett of Greeneville and Everet and Alma Ruth Jarrett of Limestone.
Mr. Jarrett was preceded in death by three brothers: Bobby Jarrett, Lawrence Jarrett, and Johnny Jarrett.
