Andy R. Smith, 86, Puncheon Creek Road, Eubank, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville.

He was born in Somerset Aug. 1, 1917, son of the late Henry M. and Effie C. Hines Smith. A retired lab technician with IBM in Lexington, he was a member of the Moose Club of Piqua, Ohio, Eagles Club of Eaton, Ohio, and Polly Ann Baptist Church. He loved to garden.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell "Grammy" Smith, whom he married Feb. 26, 1983 in Hamilton, Ohio; a son Steve (and Ann) Smith, Versailles, Ky.; a step-son, Mike (and Laure) Fryman, Richmond, Ind.; three daughters, Betty (and Avery) Hamm, El Jobean, Fla., Jackie Wilson, Richmond, and Norma (and Dave) Shadwick, Nicholasville, KY.; three brothers, Robert Smith and Gene (and Jeannie) Smith, both of Piqua, Ohio, and Flem Smith, Lakeland, Fla.; eight sisters, Ellen Cromer and Iva Jasper, both of Somerset, Alta (and Kay) Absher, Eubank, Shirley (and Tom) Stone, Cincinnati, Wanda (and Bob) Westmoreland, Karolyn (and J.R.) Shepherd, Mae Goode and Maxine Wooten, all of Lakeland, Fla.; 27 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was prededed in death by his first wife, Carrie Marie Shell Smith, who died in 1980; his parents; three sons, Dennis, William and Wayne Smith; two daughters, Linda Denington and Kate Maxson; a brother, Hardin Smith; and a grandson Joey Smith.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Gerald Sims officiting.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Somerset.
