The following obituary, except for the date and place of her death was written by Mrs. Fear herself.
Mrs. Elizabeth Fear died at the home of her son, Ed Wagner, southeast of Newton, Saturday, January 24, 1925, aged 81 years, 2 months and 8 days. Elizabeth Reed was born in Delaware county, Ohio, in 1843, coming to Illinois with her parents (John Reed) in infancy. She was married to John Wagner in Lawrence county, Illinois, in 1861. To this union were born eleven children, three dying in infancy and three after attaining manhood and womanhood, Mrs. George (Janie) Hume and Mrs. W.J. (Martha) Maples, both of Willow Hill, and William Wagner of Iuka. Surviving are Mrs. Josephine Robertson of Arkansasa, John Wagner and Edward Wagner of Newton, Mrs. Celia Brown and Mrs. Cora Hanson, both of Oblong.

Mr. Wagner passed away on December 13, 1889. She was again united in marriage to John Fear of Willow Hill, April 11, 1891. Mr. Fear died May 31, 1916, leaving her a lonely life, but the Lord's will be done.

She leaves besides her live children, seven step-children, twenty-four grand-children and three great-grandchildren, besides many friends and neighbors she loved dearly.
Mrs. Fear joined the Christian church at Brockville in 1882 and with her first husband, moved her membership to Shiloh, where she was a member at the time of her death, trying to do her Master's will, hoping to gain a home in glory where there are no goodbyes to say. Children, try to meet your mother in glory.

Funeral services were held at Brockville, Sunday, conducted by Rev. H. DeCatt. and interment was in Brockville cemetery. The pallbearers were her grandsons, Cecil Wagner, Raymond Wagner, John Olden, Victor Hanson, Charles Maples, and Carl Hume.
