CAREY -- Gerald E. "Jerry" Mathias, 66, of 811 E. Findlay St., Carey, died at 11:53 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 at his residence.

He was born Feb. 8, 1936 in Tiffin to Jess and Margaret"Alma" (Runion) Mathias. He married Anna May Laugherty on Feb. 17, 1954, and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, Jerry II in West Virginia;daughters,Mrs. Ownie (Robin) Hamden, Toledo; Mrs.Everett(Laura"Lori"Mathias) Stapleton,Carey,Ohio:Mrs. John (Scarlett) Dosh, New Riegel; Mrs. Jeffery (Belinda) Horn, Arlington; and Mrs. Thomas (Tabetha) Daum, Findlay; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mattie Kilen and Jane Thaxton, both of Tiffin; and Margaret Cross, Lexington; and a brother, Paul of Nekoosa, Wis.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin; a brother, Norval; and a sister, Berniece Biller.

Mr. Mathias worked at P&A Industries, Findlay.

He was affiliated with the Protestant faith.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated.
