Kaye, pastor of Brownstown Christian church, and the Rev. R. M. Stockton, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery.

1949 Yearbook Memorial:
Agnes Ferne Smith entered Brownstown High School as a Freshman on December 1st from Serena High School. She was with us two and a half months, just long enough for us to get acquainted with her and to appreciate her sweet nature and lovable personality.
Her tragic death on February 14, 1949 was the saddest event of the school year. Her funeral was conducted in the high school gymnasium on February 16. Freshman girls carried the flowers and Freshman boys were pallbearers. Mrs Perry and Mrs Sanders sang. Reverend Harry Kay preached the funeral sermon.

Investigation of Death:
Ed Wasser, 17 and James Wasser, 15, students in BCHS, corrolrated the testimony previously given. They also stated that it was not quite dark but the bus driver had lights on and that when the bus stopped at their home (Wasser) the three of them, Edward, James and Agnes Smith, got off the bus. The Wasser boys also testified the Hancock had told Charlene Bricker, who also lived past the Wasser farm, that he was not going any farther and that Phyllis Easton had asked Agnes Smith to spend the night with her.
Agnes refused the invitation to spend the night in the Easton home saying that she should go on home. Charlene Bricker then offered Agnes her white boots which Agnes put on before getting off the bus (the boots were later found beside the road).
State's Attorney Royal questioned Hancock as to what his instructions were in regard to getting students home from school. Handcock answered "if you have a route to make, you make it, but if you can't, you can't"

Started Search:
Deputy Sheriff Herbert Parks was the next witness called. His testimony showed that he received word from H. H. Baker, Principal of Brownstown Community High School and he and the bus driver went to the place where Agnes was last seen, and that they were followed by a group of Brownstown men in the school bus.
Parks stated that upon arrival near Camp Creek he was making necessary arrangements fro equipment to use in searching the high waters and that while talking to Wayne Stine, who had a rake, placed it in the ditch, 20 ft. north of the center of the road and about 40 feet north of the approach to the bridge over Camp Creek and located the body.
Members of the jury were Wayne Stine, Oliver E. Reece, Frank Hazenfield, S. M. McCormick, S. B. Vance and Roy Durbin.
