William "Bill" Crowe, 69, of Ashby, died at his residence.

Bill was born Dec. 2, 1937, in Detroit, Mich. He entered military service in June 1955, after graduation from Elbow Lake High School where he was an active sports figure. Stationed in White Plains, N.Y., he had the opportunity to play baseball on the West Harrison team with exhibition play at Sing Song prison. Upon his discharge Bill made his home in the Minneapolis area where he was employed with trucking companies until his retirement to Ashby.

Survivors include his children: Todd and daughter Michelle, Kimberly and son Jesse of Fargo, David, Tammy, Bradley and daughter Kyia [correctly spelled Kaija], of Minneapolis; siblings: Marcia (Harvey) Huseth of Weeki Wachee, Fla., Camille Mickelson of Elbow Lake, Darlene Spaulding of Rochester, Delano Auslund of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Dennis Auslund of Elbow Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Evelyn Auslund and Kenneth Crowe, and brothers-in-law Don Mickelson and Clifford Spaulding.

Visitation: Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home; friends invited to 6 p.m. gathering at Dream Weavers, Elbow Lake, following visitation
