Arthur – Walter P. Smith, 81, Arthur, died at 4 a.m. Friday (Oct. 9, 1959) in the Hilltop Nursing Home, Charleston, where he had been since April.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fleming Funereal Home, Arthur, Rev. John G. Clark officiated, assisted by Rev. Kenneth Plummer. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday.
He was born Feb. 17, 1878, in Indiana a son of John C. and Elizabeth Driver Smith. He was married to Lucy Lora Sefton.
He leaves his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Ruby Cordulack, Chicago, Mrs. Bonnie Ryan, Mattoon, Mrs. Glady Yaw, Champaign, Mrs. Lillie Kanitz, Arthur, and Mrs. Lillian Kanitz, Tuscola, and Mrs. Rosemary Donaldson, Donanvan; one son, Charles, Arthur; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
