Funeral serevices were held 2 p.m. Mondayin Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur, with the Rev. Kenneth D. Plummer and the Rev. Charles T. Hudson officiating. Burial was in Arthur Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a projectionist for many years. He owned the theater from 1956 until 1967. He served as Crossing guardfor the Arthur Police Department from October, 1971 until a few months before his death. He guarded the intersection of Vine and Park Streets, located just west of the Arthur Elementary Building.
Mr. Smith was born July 19, 1906, in Brownstown, the son of Walter and Lucy L. Sefton Smith. He married Mary M. Finley Dec. 16, 1928, in Sullivan. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Charles Edward "Eddie" of Indianapolis, Ind.; five sisters, Ruby Cordulack of Oak Park, Rosemary Donaldson of Mahomet, Lillian Kanitz of Tuscola, and Lilly Kanitz and Bonnie Ryan, both of Arthur; one granddaughter; and two step-grandsons.
One sister preceded him in death.
