Leonard Lewis Bishop, 83, died on Tuesday, February 27, 1990 at the home of a daughter in Bear River City, where he resided since 1987.

Born March 30, 1906 in Richmond, a son of Alfred W. and Amelia Mae VanNoy Bishop.

Married Agnes Thompson on September 4, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He lived the majority of his life in Garland, where he graduated from Bear River High School and was chosen All State in football.

He served a three year LDS Mission to the Netherlands. He completed correspondence courses in accounting and law. He worked in law enforcement for the State of Utah as a Highway Patrolman. He worked as an accountant in Brigham City for American Sportswear, this led to the opening of his own accounting and real estate business in Tremonton.

He was Bishop of two wards, Bishop's Counselor to three bishoprics, and was on the Bear River High Council. He was a Past President of the Tremonton Lions Club, member of Garland Lions Club. He was a member and President of the Box Elder School Board for ten years, on the Utah School Board for eight years.

Survived by his wife, Bear River City; two sons, three daughters and their spouses, James Leonard and Sandra Bishop, Providence; Steven Lewis and Betty Bishop, Helen and Stanley Barrett, all of Kaysville; Phyllis and LeRoy Del Holmgren, Bear River City; Carol Mae and Dee Christensen, San Fernando, California; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildrn; three sisters, Vanna Howard, Alpine; Mrs. Gerald (Grace B.) Nelson, San Diego, California; Mrs. James (Alta) Archibald, Tremonton.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 3, 1990 at 2 p.m. in the Garland Ward Chapel, 140 West Factory, Garland, with Bishop Rodney M. Ashby, officiating. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, and on Saturday also at the mortuary from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Interment: Garland Cemetery.
