Tremonton - Alta Myrle Bishop Archibald, 77, passed away January 29, 2003, at the Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton. She was born March 29, 1925, in Garland, the daughter of Alfred William and Amelia May Van Noy Bishop. She married Dale James Archibald on January 19, 1944, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Alta was reared and educated in Garland, graduating from Bear River High School and attended USU in Logan. She and Jim lived in Ogden for two years after their marriage and then returned home to the Bear River Valley where she spent the remainder of her life. She worked beside Jim as his bookkeeper at Jim and Dave"s Service Station in Tremonton. She found joy in bowling, skiing, dancing and was a member of the Skyway Ladies Golf.
Alta was a member of the Tremonton 6th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings over the years and touched many lives with her loving care and gracious manner. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy of Tremonton; her children, Diane DeJarnatt; David James (Jessie), of Tremonton; Kathy Lovoi of Bountiful; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Venna Howard now 92 of American Fork.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Roy, Leonard, George, Ralph, Ellis, and Reid; three sisters, Jessie, Evelyn and Grace.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 3, 2003, 11 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 North 300 East. Friends may call Sunday, February 2nd from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East and Monday, February 3rd from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation the family feels toward those who by their kindness and generous assistance have helped during Alta"s illness and death. May God"s blessing rest with each of you.
