NAMPA — Services for George Edward Bishop, 60, of 136 Davis Avenue, Nampa, who died Saturday at a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Nampa Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stake center at 143 Canyon.
Bishop Roscoe W. Luekenga of the Nampa Fourth Ward will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest on Karcher Road.
Mr. Bishop was born July 14, 1908, at Richmond, Utah, and was reared there and in the Blue Creek area of Box Elder County, Utah. He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in business administration and did graduate work at the University of California at Berkeley and at Idaho State University and the University of Idaho.
He married Madge Gray on June 5, 1936, at the Salt Lake City Temple. He taught school for several years in the Box Eider School District and in 1939, became associated with the International Harvester Co., as a representative, and was a franchised dealer for 25 years. He was owner-manager of the Valley Truck and Implement Co., at Nampa and was later owner-manager of the Bishops, Inc., at Jerome.
In 1962 he returned to Nampa and had taught at Vallivue High School and was head of the Business Department at the time of his death. He had served as exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge at Nampa, and as president of the Jerome Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dr. John E. Bishop, Redwood City, Calif., G. Gary Bishop, Logan, Utah, and VanNoy G. Bishop, Oakland; four brothers, Roy Bishop, Los Angeles, Leonard and Ralph Biship, Garland, Utah, and Reid Bishop, Boise; four sisters Venna Howard, Jessie Shelton, and Grace Nelson, San Diego, Calif., and Alta Archibald, Tremonton, Utah; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Alsip Chapel until 1 p.m. Wednesday. Contributions may be given to the George E. Bishop memorial fund at Vallivue High School, or flowers may be sent.
