Funeral services for Grace Engels Splinter, 90, 177 3rd. St Ne. will be at 10 a.m. in the Apostolic Lutheran Church with the Reverend Edwin Tapio officiating. Mrs. Splinter died September 2, 1993 in her home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James and Richard O'Byrne, Steve Splinter, Brad Horton, Don Meyer, and Roger Rust.
Mrs. Splinter was born March 16, 1903 in Hamlin County to William and Grace (Prouty) West. She grew up in Hamlin County and attended a country school until the eighth grade. She married Claus Engels on October 10, 1924 in Watertown, South Dakota. They farmed until Mr. Engels' death in 1951. She married Harry Splinter in 1963 at Madison, Minnesota. Mr. Splinter died in 1976. She is survived by a daughter, LaVonne Splinter of Watertown; a son, Curt Engels of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Harry Wallway of Vancouver , Washington; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great -grandchildren.
