Shirley Jean Geer, a resident of Okmulgee, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 22 days. She was born on Tuesday, June 21, 1927 to Alfred and Alice (Edwards) Knowles in Wellsville, New York. She was an in-home heath care provider for many years in Okmulgee. She was a member of the St. Anthony Church in Okmulgee. Shirley was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert Parnell Geer; son, Daniel Lee Geer and grandson, Drake Logan Geer. Survivors include two sons, David Geer and wife, Kim of Owasso and Derrick Geer of Okmulgee; two daughters, Duania Brock and husband, Patrick of Carter Lake, Iowa and Debra Kastern and husband, Tony of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Knowles of Wellsville, New York and Richard Knowles and wife, Kathy of Troupsburg, New York; three sisters, Beverly Abbott of Cuba, New York, Helen Hubbard of Oklahoma City and Norene Williams and husband, Robert of Kempner, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Shurden Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Dr. Frank Lewis officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville, New York with Father Vincent Becker officiating under the direction of the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Shurden Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee. Visitation in Wellsville will be Friday from 12:00 Noon to 12:30 p.m. at J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home.
