Dow A. Ridgely, 96, of Parkersburg, passed away Wednesday at his home.
Surviving are two daughters, Ilene Ridgely of Parkersburg and Mrs. Russell Polzin of Saginaw, MI, three sons, Claybourne Ridgely of Schererville, IN, Kenneth Ridgely and Daniel Ridgely, both of Parkersburg, 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren with burial in the church cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Forney Ridgely in 1966, and two daughters, Carrol and Irene.
Mr. Ridgely was an elder and minister of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, Martin Creek and LaMotte Prairie Churches.
He was secretary of the Church of the Brethren in Southern Illinois, and a member of the Historical Committee for seven years.
He was a farmer and taught in rural schools for 27 years.
Mr. Ridgely was born in Bonpas Township Nov. 30, 1879. The greater part of his life spent in Richland County.
