Funeral services were at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home. Interment is in the Nary Cemetery in Helga Township.
He was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Grand Forks, N.D., to Clark A. and Hattie (McMahon) Chandler. He attended country school in Euclid before attending Crookston Ag School for two years. He farmed with his family near Euclid until 1939, when the family moved to Helga Township near Bemidji where he has farmed since.
He was married on Sept. 24, 1942, in Bemidji to Bernice "Bunny" Kelley. After his marriage while still farming, he drove truck, hauled potatoes and worked for Hickerson's Body Shop in Bemidji. In 1949 he went to work for Beltrami Electric Co-op, first as a mechanic, and retired in 1983 as its purchasing agent. Since his retirement he farmed and worked in the woods. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Bemidji.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dennis (Kathleen) Chandler of Vermilllion, S.D., Michael J. Chandler of Tucson, Ariz., and David (Marie) Chandler of Bemidji; one daughter, Mary Jane Chandler who lives at home: four grandchildren; one brother, Ed (Arleigh) Chandler of Bemidji: and four sisters, Dorothy Mansfield of Longview, Wash., Leota Johnson of Minneapolis, May Jo (Norman) Hovet of Portland, Ore., and Alice (Al) Schiereman of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
