James Henry and Margaret Edna Berkley are the parents of seven children William Harlon, James Donald, Nina Edna, Robert Claybourne, Colleen Avilda, Timothy Ray and Patrick J. Berkley. His son Robert Claybourne died at the age of three in 1928, and his son Patrick J. Berkley was killed in action in Korea, 13 Aug 1950.
James liked the desert and rock hunting, a hobby he shared with his son Harlon and Don. He would polished the stones and make fabulous jewelry from them.
