Nettie Theola Cantral was born in Whitside County, Illinois March 9, 1864 and passed away July 25, 1932 at her home in Corning at the aged of 68 years, 4 months, and 16 days. She was the fourth of a family of eleven children and with her parents moved to Iowa when a small child, first settling in Linn County and later moving to Montgomery County. She was married to Frank Lawrence November 1, 1882 and located with her husband in Lincoln Township where they made their home until they moved to Corning, Iowa. Mr. Lawrence passed away September 4, 1927. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Edward, who died in infancy and Harry Delmont, who died at the age of 13 a number of years ago.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by six children, Arthur F. Lawrence of Carbon, Iowa, Mrs. Mertice Rice of Omaha, Nebraska, Dean F. Lawrence of Pine Earth Minnesota. Mrs. Grace A. Preston of Corning, J. Leonard Lawrence of Carbon, Iowa and Lloyd S. Lawrence of Techmah, Nebraska, 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one brother, Charles E. Cantral of Nebraska and two sisters, Bertha Sharman of Palmer, Nebraska and Adelphia Miller of Wyoming. All of her children were present at the mothers death, also a brother Charles and sister Bertha Sharman.
Early in life Mrs. Lawrence was converted to the Christian faith and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church and remained a faithful Christian until the time of her death. She was ill only two days of complications brought on by pneumonia.
