PETER J. LOWE DIES AT 77; RITES HELD TUESDAY
Last rites were held Tuesday afternoon for Peter James Lowe, 77-year-old native of this community, who passed away at 1:55 a.m. Sunday following several years' illness. The services were held at the J. H. Iden & Son funeral home with the Rev. C. C. Cunningham, pastor of the Crumbaugh Spiritualist church, officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
Music was furnished by Kenneth Lowe, singer, accompanied at the piano by Wayne Weber.
Mr. Lowe was born Jan. 21, 1869 in West township east of LeRoy, son of James and Sarah Jane Craig Lowe. he followed the occupation of farming and served the LeRoy high school as janitor for many years.
He married Hattie Campbell on Dec. 24, 1891. They had one child. Mr. Lowe is survived by his wife; the son, Roy C. Lowe of Potomac; a granddaughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Metzger, Pana; and a sister, Mrs. Bina Lowe Walls of Cowden.
Among the out-of-town relatives who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Lowe, Potomac; Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Metzger, Pana; Mrs. J. K. McLean, Mrs. Ora Scott and Kine McDowell of Bloomington; George and Fannie Wampler, Ellsworth; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warner, Mr. and Mrs. Flavel Warner, Mrs. Winifred Coating and Dean Warner of Champaign.
Pallbearers were Bert Banner, Mirt Banner, Roy Gassner, Ray Whitesell, George Rodgers and Howard Hurley.
