Chester D Battershell, 63, native of Robinson, died while reclining at his home in Gary, Indiana, Wednesday, September 11. His wife Ena, who had gone out to visit a friend while he took a nap, returned in a short time only to find him dead. Although Mr Battershell had a heart condition, it was unexpected.
He was a retired night superintendent for Citro Services Refinery in Gary. He had worked at Marathon. He was Church Westminister President.
He was the son of John and Laura Battershell who resided northeast of Robinson. Survivors are a son, Allen of Indianapolis, and six brothers and sisters; Ransom, Cecil, Mrs Leroy Bond, Mrs John H Benner, Bernus of Shelbyville, Mrs O M Dart of Oblong, 1 step-daughter Mrs Herbert Grady of Dearborn, Michigan, and 1 grandchild and two step-grandchildren. Buchanan Funeral Home held services at 10 am with interment in Robinson New Cemetery.
