Charles was the 6th child of nine and the first son born to Oliver Heavenhill and Juliette Haskins. He was also the only son to survive infancy and grew up with six sisters.
He married Jennie Haigh (1868-1929) June 21, 1893 in La Salle Co., Illinois. They had four children:
Maude Leslie Havenhill 1894 – 1948
Oliver H. Havenhill 1898 – 1958
Robert C. Havenhill 1905 – 1905
Frances Louise Havenhill 1909 – 1975
