OBITUARY, The Correctionville News, 3 October 1957, page 1:

William Charles Coon, the son of George W. and Ella E. Coon, was born in Madison Co., Iowa, April 19, 1872, and passed away September 26, 1957, in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 7 days.

He was a member of the Methodist Church in Hinton and was a member of the I.O.O.F. for many years. He had been a teacher in the public schools for over twenty years, then farmed until his retirement in 1947, at which time he moved to Hinton and lived with his sister, Mrs. Charles Page.

Those who survive include five sisters, Mrs. Cora Queener of Kansas City, Miss Verna Coon of Anthon, Mrs. Bertha Anderson of Correctionville, Mrs. Irma Coleman of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Maude Page of Hinton, fifteen nephews and four nieces. Funeral services were held at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home on September 28th at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Donald Harbour officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
