Spencer L. Blue, aged 76, of Waynesburg, well known retired employe of the Peoples Natural Gas Company and for many years a resident of Brave, died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 5, 1944, when he was seized with a heart attack and collapsed in the lavatory under the courthouse. Mr. Blue has been subject to a heart ailment for some time, but was able to be up and about town.
A son of Isaac and Minerva Hennen Blue, he was born Dec. 4, 1867, in Lincoln County, Ohio. He was employed for 31 years by the Peoples Natural Gas Company and for a number of years was employed as stillman at the company's compressing station at Brave. He had been retired for the past few years. He was a special member of the L.O.O.M. Lodge of Waynesburg.
His wife, Leona Rice Blue, died three and one-half years ago. Surviving are two daughters and four sons: Mrs. Grace Snell, Waynesburg, R. D. 6; Mrs. Clara Grossick, Ingomar; Owen Blue and Melbourn Blue, of Brave; Randolph Blue, Clarksville; and Delmont Blue, of Brave. There are 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers and three sisters, namely: William and Edward Blue, of Washington; Frank Blue, of Sharon; Mrs. Clara Hall, of Lincoln Hill; Mrs. Atha Cummings, of Washington, Pa., and Mrs. Lydia Dodge, of Blacksville, W. Va.
