Willie was born in New Ulm, Austin County, Texas and was baptized there also. The family moved to Richland where they farmed and always had exceptionally clean fields. He made barbecue in his retirement years in Pflugerville. Willie and Bertha retired and moved to Pflugerville.

Their children were Herbert Gebert, Elnora Melber, Alvina Spaulding, Leroy Gebert, Waylon Gebert, Lorine Moore, Mildred Melber and Doris Smith.
