There is a Nancy Catherine Adkins that is the daughter of Hiram Adkins and Elizabeth Smith. Please see birth record for Nancy C. Atkins born 17 Aug 1866 in Putnam Co. West Virginia. Nancy Catherine Adkins married a Jerry Gibson. They had a child name Zelma Rhoena Gibson. Nancy Catherine Adkins is listed as a widow in the 1910 Census. There is a different person named Nancy Jane Adkins who married Thomas Pritchard Smith LKVT-XR7 and they had several children. I am not positive at this time, who the parents are of Nancy Jane Adkins but guessing her father was George Washington Adkins (1843-1919) and her mother Amy "Anna" Maynard (1846-1934). These two ladies have their records mixed together. If you look at the current sources, there are two different 1900 Census records. The Nancy Catherine Adkins 1900 Census record shows her in Putnam Co., West Virginia with her father and mother. Also her birth is listed as Aug 1866. The Nancy Jane Adkins 1900 Census record shows her in Lincoln Co., West Virginia with her husband Thomas P Smith and children. Also her birth is listed as Oct 1866. Nancy Catherine Adkins continues to show up in additional census records after 1900 but Nancy Jane Adkins does not show up as the wife of Thomas Pritchard Smith in the 1910 Census. To me it is clear these two ladies are distinct individuals that need to be separated.
The game plan is since Nancy Jane Adkins LHT5-44V is currently in the database with spouse Thomas Pritchard Smith LKVT-XR7 and 7 children associated to them, I am going to try and keep these relations intact. Therefore, I will just remove her from parents Hiram S Adkins LHT5-7PR and Elizabeth Smith KGW9-C75.
I will create a new record for a woman named Nancy Catherine Adkins and have her associated with parents Hiram S Adkins LHT5-7PR and Elizabeth Smith KGW9-C75. I will then move all of the appropriate sources from Nancy Jane Adkins LHT5-44V to the new Nancy Catherine Adkins.
