Karl Kihlstadius 1862-1942

Karl Axel Kihlstadius, one of the oldest charter members of the Concordia Church and pioneer resident of Eddy Township since 1897, died at his home Tuesday, September 1st, at 4 o'clock that afternoon.
He was born in Dalby, Varmland, Sweden, on September 5, 1862, and in 1885 moved to Tannes, Harjedalen, Sweden, where he was united in marriage to Ingeborg Sundin.
In 1892 he came to America arriving in the vicinity of Minneapolis. A year later his wife and three children joined him. They resided the next few years near Kensington, Minnesota, and in the spring of 1897 they moved to their homestead in Eddy Township, where he has since made his home. Mr. Kihlstadius was preceded in death by two children, one daughter and one son.
Survivor besides his wife are: Hilma (Mrs. Axel Lundeen) of Clearbrook; Ida (Mrs. Peter Johnson) of Mapes, North Dakota; Alfreda (Mrs. Harry Derrig) of Bismarck, North Dakota; Emelia (Mrs. Paul Nyleen) of Bayview, Idaho; Ella (Mrs. Eddie Steenerson) Of Clearbrook; Olga (Mrs. Alfred Johnson) of Clearbrook; Agda (Mrs. Glenn McKay) of Hanna, Wyoming; Edward of River, Minnesota; Gustaf of Clearbrook; Alvin at home and Melvin of Willamina, Oregon.
He is also survived by 31 grandchildren, two of them, Edna (Mrs. George Gund) of Salol, Minnesota, and Elmer of Devils Lake, North Dakota, were reared in the home of their grandparents since infancy. There are also twelve great grandchildren.
Mr. Kihlstadius has been a resident of Eddy Township for the past 45 years and has always been active in church and community affairs. He and Mrs. Kihlstadius celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1937.
Funeral services were conducted from the Bethsaida Lutheran and Concordia Lutheran Churches Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Lundgren and Rev. Larsen were in charge of the services. Interment was made in the Concordia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Albert Lundeen, John Olson, Elmer Severson, John Nesland, Melvin Edeen, and John Nordin.
Honorary pallbearers were: Ole Stevenson, Carl Edeen, Martin Hagen, Bernard Merseth, Ole Bjorbeck, Nels Stenborg, Peter Twite and Gust Lundeen.
