Gertrude "Gertie" Irene Joslyn Lytle, 87 of Casper and formerly of Crook County, Wyoming died Monday, March 1, 2010 at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper, WY of natural causes.
All three of her children and spouses were present when the gentle hand of God quietly and peacefully lifted her to Heaven.
She lived and worked a full rich life; not one without hard work, struggle or sorrow, but one full of optimism, self determination and, after living though the Great Depression, one of support and compassion for the working man and woman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Moorcroft, WY with the Father Bill Hill as celebrant.
Burial will follow at the Miller Creek Cemetery with a reception immediately after at the Sunny Divide Community Hall. Visitation will be at St. Patrick's starting at 9:00 am until the time of the service.

She was born on September 13, 1922 on a farm near O'Neil, NE the daughter of William Chandler and Mary Ellen (Lydon) Joslyn.
Mary Ellen died in childbirth when Gertie was 4 years old. At the age of 7 she moved with the family to a ranch about 7 miles south of Gillette.
She graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette in 1941 and attended University of Wyoming Normal School before teaching for 8 years in rural schools around Gillette.
On Dec. 8, 1950 she married Reno Lytle in Gillette. After their marriage they lived on the Lytle homestead where they operated a lumber mill.
In 1957 they moved the lumber mill and built a home on another property between Carlile and Devils Tower, WY. She helped with the lumber mill and livestock, was a great scratch cook and seamstress, but was always the teacher, making sure that her children got an education.
She enjoyed many family fishing trips and traveling.
She also loved gatherings with her sisters and brothers. She was active in 4-H, VFW Auxiliary and the Shamrock Homemakers Club. After Reno's death in 1982 she continued to live at home and had an active independent life with other seniors in the community.
