Widow Dies After Long Illness – Funeral Services Tuesday Afternoon
Mrs. Amanda E. Lacy, 82, widow of John C. Lacy, Civil war veteran, passed away yesterday afternoon at 5:15 o'clock at the family home, 617 Second street. She had been in declining health for several years and had been bedfast for four years and had been in a serious condition for about nine weeks.
Mrs. Lacy was born in Jackson county, the daughter of William and Rachael Elkins. She was married to Mr. Lacy, Feb 23, 1968, and had spent the greater part of her life in this city. She was a good woman and a great person to help others, and especially was she kind to the sick. She was a member of the Wertz Memorial United Brethren church.
Mrs. Lacy was preceded in death 40 years ago by her husband. Of seven children born to the union, only one, Miss Millie Lacy, this city, survives. There are five grandchildren, Mrs. Inez King, of Rushville; Mrs. Muriel Smiley, of Noblesville; Mrs. Mayme Russell; William Hull and Harry N. Hull, this city, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home, conducted b the Rev. C. P. Martin, of Indianapolis, and Rev. W. A. Settle, pastor of the Wertz Memorial church. Burial will be made in Garland Brook cemetery.
