Funeral services for DeSoto Howell, 50, of Orange, Texas, a native of the southern part of Winn Parish, who died from a heart ailment at the home of his son, Dr. J. F. Howell, in Houston, were held Tuesday in Orange, Texas Memorial Park Cemetery. The Masonic Lodge had charge of the last rites.

Mr. Howell moved his family to Orange at the beginning of World War II. He is survived by his wife of Orange, who was the former Maggie Collins of Atlanta, La.; one son, Dr. J. F. Howell, Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Billy Stewart, and one granddaughter of Orange.

He also leaves three brothers, his twin, DeLeon Howell of Packton, Finley Howell of Baton Rouge, and Huey Howell, Magnolia, Ark.; six sisters, Mrs. W. A. Warren, Mrs. B. E. (Walker) Melton, and Mrs. W. J. (Bud) Melton, all of Packton, La.; Mrs. Alma Garland, Lawton, Okla.; Mrs. Lenton Rosenblath, Shreveport; and Mrs. Julia Sweat of Georgetown; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
