Mrs. John Watterberg Called

Died—At her home near this village, on Tuesday morning, March 18, 1913, Mrs. Lotta Watterberg, wife of John Watterberg.

The community was shocked Tuesday when it became known that Mrs. John Watterberg had died at 6:15 that morning. Mrs. Watterberg had been in ill health for several years, but on Monday was up and about the house. She had eaten a hearty dinner but was taken with a vomiting spell and afterwards complained of a pain through the chest. Later she said she felt better and thought she would enjoy a good night's sleep and retired. Mr. Watterberg awoke at 6:15 and spoke, asking her if she had slept well. A slight gasp was his only response as she breathed her last.

A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom hath recalled
The boon His love had given,
And though the body moulders here
The soul is safe in heaven.

Lotta Swenson was born in Sweden in 1853, being 60 years old at the time of her death. She was married to Mr. Watterberg in Sweden and came to this country in the spring of 1879, settling in Richland county, N.D., later taking as a homestead the farm on which they resided at the time of her death.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Watterberg leaves eight children, three sons and five daughters, to mourn the loss of a true wife and faithful mother, besides one adopted son, a brother and sister in this country and a brother and sister still in Sweden. The children are Axel, who has been at home the past winter; Fritz, of Minneapolis; Charley, of Alberta, Canada, and Conrad, an adopted son; Mrs. Anton Knudson, of Thief River Falls; Mrs. Alfred Anderson, of Hingham, Montana; Sarah, Mary and Louise, still at home. A brother, Otto Swenson, lives in Manitoba, and a sister, Mrs. Aug. Person in Duluth.
