MUNDELL

Bessie Viola Mundell, daughter of C. C. and Lula Benge Gwinn, was born May 2, 1904 in Lucas, Iowa and died Sept. 30, 1981 at their home in LeRoy at the age of 77 years.

She attended schools near Lucas.

On Feb. 21, 1923 she was united in marriage to George Elery Mundell. To this union two children were born, Dwight and Joan. George preceded Bessie in death on Sept. 13, 1973.

Bessie and George had farmed all their married life in Lucas, Clarke and Decatur counties. They moved to LeRoy in 1947.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband and father. Survivors are a son, Dwight of Winterset; a daughter, Joan Brown of LeRoy; her mother, Lula Gwinn of Chariton; a brother, Lester Gwinn of Humeston; sisters, Florence D'Atillio of Derby, Myrtle Danner and Gladys Williams of Lucas, and Carmen Goben of Woodburn; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, under the direction of Stewart-Duerr Funeral Home, were held Friday, Oct. 2, 1981 at the LeRoy Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kate Simmons conducting. Burial was in the Goshen Cemetery.
