GWINN
Lester Cyril "Les" Gwinn, son of Chasty Cyril and Lula (Benge) Gwinn, was born in Lucas County, Iowa on September 25, 1917 and passed away July 19, 1988 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon at the age of 70 years from cancer.
Lester was raised in Lucas County and made his home in Wayne County for the past 33 years where he had engaged in farming.
He was united in marriage to Mary Helen Ferrick on July 8, 1939 and to their union 9 children were born.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took great pride in his grandchildren and his happiest hours were when he had them with him. Lester had a great love for the outdoors and spent many hours in his garden.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Rosemary, who died in infancy; two sisters, Bessie Mundell and Florence D'Attilio.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of rural Humeston; five sons, Greg and wife Peggy, Steve and Randy, all of Humeston, Don and wife Kristi, of Weldon, Kevin and a daughter, Rhonda, both of Humeston; five grandchildren, Denise, Jeff, Lesley, Chasty and Megan; three sisters, Gladys Williams and Myrtle Danner of Lucas and Carmen Goven of Woodburn; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 22, 1988 at 2 p.m. at the Hutchinson Funeral Home in Humeston. Burial was in the Humeston Cemetery.
