WILLIAMS

Gladys Ruby Williams of Lucas, daughter of Chat and Lula (Benge) Gwinn, was born March 30, 1910, in Lucas County, Iowa. She died Aug. 6, 1998, at the age of 88 years at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center, where she had resided for the last 1 1/2 years.

Gladys was united in marriage to Evan Maynard Williams Feb. 3, 1934 at Osceola. To this union two children were born, Esther Marie and Valetta Gaye.

Gladys provided a loving home for her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. A few of her many other enjoyments included gardening, music, fishing and writing. Gladys wrote the Lucas News for the Osceola newspaper for many years.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Evan, her parents, Chat and Lula Gwinn, her daughter, Esther Marie, a brother, Lester Gwinn and two sisters, Florence D'Atillio and Bessie Mundell.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Gaye Ansley and husband, Dwayne of Lucas, three grandchildren, Rhonda Adair and husband, Randy of Lucas, Rita Hitt and husband, Alan of Humeston, and Roberta Hitt and husband, Rodney of Humeston, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Myrtle Danner and husband, Jim of Lucas, and Carmen Goben of Woodburn, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at the Goshen Cemetery in Lucas County, Iowa, with Pastor Lynn Roberts officiating.
