Edward W. Williams was the son of Albert Gallatin Williams and Ellen Mitchell Owens. His parents originally moved from Kentucky to Clinton (now called Old Clinton or Northfork) in Monroe County in the fall of 1838. Edward's parents ran a stagecoach inn in Old Clinton called the Virginia House for fifteen years before they moved to Weston in Platte County, Missouri, in 1854. Edward was born in Platte County in 1859. He inherited a portion of his father's land in Monroe County on his father's death in 1869. Edward moved there and married Clara Virginia Parsons on Oct. 19, 1904. They had three children.
