"Lucy" Lucretia Maude Copley Yorgason, 94, passed quietly away on 7 December 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters, her son Gary, and her cherished husband of fifty-four years, John Gayle Yorgason.

When her sister Clara Beatrice Copley Yorgason died unexpectedly in 1951, leaving her brother-in-law Gayle with four small children, Lucy, a Canadian citizen, soon found herself in the midst of a long-distance courtship. Ten months later she and her two children joined with Gayle's family in Utah, and this new eternal unit was completed two years later with a son, their seventh.

A hard worker, Lucy fostered a strong work ethic in her children. She also helped instill in them a sense of the spiritual, using as a guide the scriptures and her own unwavering testimony of the Savior and his restored gospel.

Service was important to her, and before too many years she was utilizing her seamstress skills helping Gayle support their four missionary sons. She also delighted her daughters with beautiful, "Lucy-made" clothing.

A true lover of beauty, Lucy was gifted as a silk floral designer, an artist, a violinist, a poet, a journal keeper, a carpenter and builder, a barber, and a horticulturist and gardener. Until a few weeks ago she was still working in her beloved gardens.

After Lucy retired as manager of BYU Laundry's alterations department, she and Gayle served a two-year mission in Tennessee. Returning home Gayle was called as a Patriarch and Lucy had the joyful opportunity of welcoming into their home many hundreds of friends and neighbors. This continued after Gayle's passing, and Lucy's caring, inspiring words of counsel and comfort, are treasured by many.

Lucy is survived by four sisters and her children - Marilynn "Lynn" (Ron Elliston), Gary (deceased) (Teresa), Blaine (Kathy), Judy Ostermiller, Brenton (Margaret), Valerie (Edward Platt), and Gregory (Kristine). 44 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren also survive her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 11 December 2010 (Lucy's 95th Birthday) in the Fountain Green, Utah, 1st Ward Chapel (151 S. & 200 W. Fountain Green, Utah, 84632). A Viewing will be held at the Chapel prior to the Service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., as well as Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment in the Yorgason Family Cemetery.
