The daughter of the late William and Lucille (Irelan) Moe was born in Midland on Dec. 25, 1926. On Jan. 26, 1946 in Midland, Clara married Edward Penney. For over 50 years she worked along side her husband on the family farm. As a couple they were inducted into the Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame. Clara was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Coleman, secretary and treasurer of the United Women Group, and also volunteered at the clothing center at church. She loved gardening and crocheting & was noted for her famous sugar cookies.
Clara is survived by her husband Ed; six children, Judy (Russ) Kiser, Sharon (Wilbur) Roberson, Debra Patten, all of Midland, Doug (Catherine) Penney of Coleman, Raymond (Carol) Penney of Evart, MI, and Carla Wilson of Kennett, MO.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; five brothers, Robert (Mildred) Moe of Midland, Lawrence (Sue) Moe of Beaverton, Dale (Ann) Moe of Houghton Lake, Richard Moe of Missouri and Gary (Elfriede) Moe of Germany; three sisters, Shirley (Mel) Rooker of Midland, Dorothy Quick of Luzerne, and Diane (Jerry) Nelson of Midland; sister-in-law, Kathy Moe of Midland, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Thomas and Terry Moe, and a sister, Catherine Ward.
Funeral Services and Committal will take place 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, from Wilson Miller funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Koski and the Rev. Joy Arthur will officiate. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
