           S. H. SNUFFER DIES MONDAY
                  AT HIS SON'S HOME


        Funeral For Well Known Farmer And
          Native Of Raleigh County Will Be
                  Held At Mount Tabor



Sparrel H. Snuffer, 77, of Crab Orchard, died at the home of his son, Ira H. Snuffer of Coal City, yesterday. He was born January 15, 1858, in Raleigh county.

Mr. Snuffer was the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Snuffer, who came to Raleigh county before the war between the states broke out. Their home was in this section until their death, a number of years ago. Mr. Snuffer lived his entire life in Raleigh county, his farm being a part of that which was originally owned by his father near Crab Orchard. In 1879 he was married to Miss Susan Davis, daughter of the late William and Cinda Davis, and to the union ten children were born. Mrs. Snuffer preceded her husband to the grave on November 13, 1922.

One son, Henry Early Snuffer, died at the age of 12 years. The surviving children are Mrs. William T. Riffe of Beckley, Mrs. James Campbell of Crab Orchard, Mrs. J. D. Stanley of Harper Road, Mrs. V. M. McVey of Pemberton, Mrs. Snyder Phipps of Harper Road, Mrs. Grover Scott of Crab Orchard, Mrs. Arthur Hylton of Stotesbury, Ira H. Snuffer of Coal City, and Ernest E. Snuffer of Crab Orchard. One brother is living, J. O. (Bub) Snuffer of Crab Orchard, who was at the ill man's bedside for ten days preceding his death. Many grandchildren and other relatives in Raleigh county also survive him.

Mr. Snuffer had been a member of the Crab Orchard Brethren church for the past 40 years, and the funeral services will be con-

ducted tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by his pastor, the Rev. Kale of Princeton, assisted by the Rev. Clowers of Gatewood. The services will be held at the Mt. Tabor church, with H. T. Calfee and Sons undertakers in charge.

The remains were taken this afternoon to the home of Mr. Snuffer's daughter, Mrs. W. T. Riffe on Harper Road and will remain there until the hour of the funeral.

Active pallbearers for the deceased gentleman will be selected from his grandsons, as follows; Homer W. Riffe, Basil Campbell, James McVey, Jennings Scott, Boyd Stanley and Carl Phipps. Flower girls will be his granddaughters.
