---F. M. Miles, better known as "Uncle Frank" or "Parde" Miles, died very suddenly at his home here last Monday morning at 3:00, only being ill a short time with acute indigestion. Mr. Miles had been in ill health most all winter but was feeling better than usual on Sunday and was down town on Friday, also Saturday. His wife had gone to church and on her return found him to be in a serious condition.
---Mr. Miles was the last of a family of thirteen children. He served as judge for twenty-two years and was re-elected at the election April 6.
---He united with the Christian Church in early life and had been a member of the order of the I.O.O.F. Lodge for the past fifty years.
---Francis Marion Miles was born on the 7th day of February, 1843 and died on the 24th day of April, 1926, aged eighty-three years, two months and nineteen days.
---His father was born in the year 1796 and his mother in the year 1900. They were married October 8th, 1821 and thirteen children were born to them-five while they were living in Virginia, five while they lived in Kentucky and the other three after they moved to Macon County, Missouri. The three children born in Missouri were Francis Marion, commonly known as F.M., his brother Alburn who died at La Plata a few years ago and Alburn's twin sister who died when an infant.
---After the death of his mother, Mr. Miles lived with his brother, James, until the beginning of the Civil War in 1860. He was then eighteen years of age and volunteered in the Confederate Army. He served under General Sterling P. Price for four years. His Captain was George W. Christie of Palmyer, Missouri. Mr. Miles fought twenty-eight battles and was twenty-two and a half years old when the Confederate Army was disbanded and he was sent home.
---In 1866 he was married to Lucy Belle Chinn. To this union two children were born, Matilda, now Mrs. Matilda Cody of Gibbs, Missouri, and her brother, Armstead. His wife died in 1871 and later he married Percilla Chinn, a sister of his first wife. To this union three children were born, the two now living being S.A. Miles of Pueblo, Colorado and James W. Miles of La Plata. The second wife died in 1883 and two years later he was married to Mrs. Callie Parcel, widow of H.C. Parcel, and to this union was born two children, both living, Cody Miles of Waco, Texas and Glen Miles of Buckner, Missouri. In the year of 1897, June 20th, Mr. Miles was married to Mrs. Lucy Evelyn Narron of Carrollton, Missouri, who survives him; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive him.
---Funeral services were held from the Christian Church yesterday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.L. Shoemaker. Interment was made in the La Plata cemetery.

Francis Marion "Frank" Miles married his first wife, Lucy Bell Chinn, in 1866 and they had two children:
1) Matilda Miles Cody
2) Armstead Miles
Frank married his second wife, Percilla Chinn (a sister of his first wife), in 1872 and they had three children:
3) Samuel A. Miles
4) James W. Miles
5) infant son Miles
Frank married his third wife, Mrs. Callie Parcel, in 1885 and they had two children:
6) Cody Miles
7) Glen Miles, died May 5, 1949 in Dumas, Texas
Frank married his fourth wife, Mrs. Lucy Evelyn Narron on June 20, 1897.
