"At her request, no services will be held for Mary Lou Sweeney, 72, of Bandon. She was born on May 10, 1930 in Laramie, Wyo., to William and Louise (Spurrier) Lind. She died Aug. 26, in Bandon.
She grew up and went to school in Laramie. On March 6, 1947, she married William J. Cole and together they had three children. William died in June of 1950 and Mary Lou and her young family lived for a while in Gillette, Wyo., before she met her future husband, J.M. Sweeney in southern California. On Dec. 6, 1952, they were married in El Toro, Calif. Through the years she lived in Orange County and then in Vista, California, before moving to Bandon in 1989. They later divorced.
Mary Lou loved to do ceramics and painting outdoor scenes, sharing her art with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Marie and Jerry Jones, of Laramie; granddaughter Brandin Marina and John Johnson of Lander, Wyo; grandson, Joshua Lee Jones of Cheyenne, Wyo.; brother Doug Lind of Bandon; brother-in-law, Robert Spencer of Bandon; nieces, Vickie Lind of Coos Bay and Diane Spencer of Stayton; nephews, David Lind of Covina, Calif.; John DeGroot of Lynwood, Wash. and Robert Spencer of Spokane, Wash; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William J. Cole, in 1950; children, Robert Dean, in 1948 and Billie Jean in 1950; parents, William & Louise Lind; brothers William S. Lind in 1985 and Robert L. Lind, in 1944; and twin sister Elizabeth Ann Spencer in 1998.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Bandon Library or South Coast Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service, Bandon Chapel."
