John Kring,
Was born in the fall of 1793, in Bedford County, PA., the son of George and Mary Elizabeth (Ling) Kring, of Cambria County.

In the spring of 1818, in Cambria Co., John married Elisabeth Varner, born in 1796, in Cambria Co., died Aug. 23, 1885, in Salix, PA, the daughter of Nicholas and Barbara (Hildebrand) Varner, of Salix, PA.

Like folks before him, John was a farmer. He had a good team of fine draft horses. After the work was completed on John's farm, he would lend the team to his neighbors.
Aside from farming, john built and managed a sawmill, to help supply lumber to people living in the valley.
John had a love for the Lord, he and his family were members of The Evangelical Association Church.

The marriage between John and Elizabeth was blessed with five children;
Martha M. (1819-1882)
George (1820-1882)
Elizabeth (1827-___)
Moses (1833-1891)
Mary (died very young) no data.)

We have no data to when John died, we know he was buried in Dunmire Cemetery, Salix, PA.. His headstone was damaged some time ago, and was never replaced.

This John Kring died around 1857, not in 1882. His will was probated on January 13, 1857, which suggests that he died either in late 1856 or early 1857. It's located in Cambria County Will Book, Volume 1, pages 281-282 (or film images 177-178 on Ancestry). The will lists the same children and wife that are in his bio on Find A Grave. His wife's name is also on his tombstone, which his memorial page has a picture of. He and his wife appear in the 1850 census together with their son Moses, and then after his death, she appears in the 1860 census living with their daughter Martha (who is married to Isaac Sill).
