Olin Calvin was the oldest of the eight children born to C.C. and Viola Calvin of Markley.

Olin graduated from Graham High School in the class of 1921. He moved to Olney to work in the First National Bank for 10 years.

He married Edith Walker of Dallas, a graduate of Southern Methodist University. She taught High School English in Olney.

Olin and Edith went into the Butane Gas and Appliance business in 1934 after being partners in the Cub Drug Stroe with J.B. St. Clair for a time. Their butane business extended to Graham and Seymour.

Olin Calvin, Master Mason, served as Secretary, Junior Warden, Senior Warden and the youngest Worshipful Master of the Olney Masonic Lodge. He was a Shriner of Maskat Temple of Wichita Falls and received his 50th year Masonic Pin in 1974. He served as president of the Rotary Club.

A Baptist, Olin taught 13 year old boys for 10 years and served as Chair of the Board of Deacons for two years. He was the third president of the Downtown Men's Bible Class. He served the community on the Olney School Board, Board of Directors of the Hamilton Hospital, Chair of the Red Cross Fund Drive, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, State Director of Butane Gas Dealers for two years.

Olin and Edith adopted 19 day old twin boys, Charles and Thomas in 1941. They have five grandchildren.
