Mrs. Corinne Hammond Hughes, longtime Kosciusko resident, died Tuesday, March 25, at her residence following an illness of several years. She was 84.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with burial in the City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes was a native of the Kilmichael area, moving to Kosciusko as a young girl. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Twentieth Century Club. She was educated at I.I.& C. in Columbus, which later became Mississippi State College for Women and known as Mississippi University for Women. She was the widow of Louie W. Hughes.
She leaves a daughter, Miss Nela Hughes of Kosciusko; three sisters, Mrs. Merritte Johnson of Winona, Mrs. Earl Moore of Duck Hill, Mrs. Frank Blanton of Natchez; five brothers, Robert Hammond, Arnold Hammond of Winona, Frank Hammond of Houston, Tex., Abner Hammond of Marks, and James W. Hammond, a number of nieces and nephews.
Officiating ministers were the Rev. Erskine Jackson and the Rev. John Fain Jr.
