GEORGE F. Hoerner, 68, of 619 N. State St., died Sunday, Sept. 6, at St. Luke's Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Revs. Howard Carroll of St. Mary's and Steve Barnett of Roncalli High School officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post No. 24 of Aberdeen.

The Kreuger-Schriver Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Casketbearers, all nephews, will be Ray and Paul Hoerner, both of Aberdeen; Paul Heier, Hosmer; Floyd P. Hoerner, Frederick; Ralph Dewald and Norbert Hoerner, both of Bowdle. Kathy O'Brian will be the organist and the church choir will sing.

Mrs. Edith Ronayne will be the lector and the offertory procession will be led by a son and daughter, Cindy and Joe Hoerner. Ushers will be Ben Imbery and Gust Hill.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. A vigil wake service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m. Relatives will meet at the mortuary at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

George Hoerner was born Nov. 20, 1912, at Bowdle. He grew up there and graduated from Bowdle High School. He then attended Columbia College in Colorado and worked for a time for the newspaper in Faulkton. From 1942 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Army and then made his home in Aberdeen where he had since resided. He married Rosalie Geier Baumgartner June 17, 1954, at Aberdeen. He was a salesman for the Lorilard Tobacco Company for 33 years until his retirement in 1977. He was then employed by the Green Thumb Program and also worked with the Aberdeen Boys Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Survivors include his widow; three sons, Henry, Aberdeen; Joe and Jim, both at home; three daughters, Cindy, at home; Mariann Hoerner, Kennewick, Wash.; and Mrs. Joe (Diana) Carrasquillo, Hayward, Calif.; two brothers, Leo Hoerner, Ipswich; and A.L. Hoerner, Sioux Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Martin (Ann) Abler, Hoven; Mrs. Joe (Genevieve) Dewald, Bowdle; and Mrs. Mary Blondo, Bellfield, Wash.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
