Jay Rowe Chandler, 59, died at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday [28 Aug 1946] morning at the Blackford County hospital, where he was taken Tuesday morning, suffering from a heart aliment and general complications.The body was removed to the Burk, Fennig & Well funeral home for burial preparation, and to await funeral services. Private funeral rites will be conducted at 10 o'clock Friday [30 Aug 1946] morning at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. E. L. Gates, pastor of the Grace Methodist church officiating. Burial will be made in the I. O. O. F. cemetery. The body will not lie in state. Mr. Chandler was born in Hartford City on June 12, 1887, a son of Alvin and Clara Ann Rowe Chandler. He attended schools here and in his earlier life was a blacksmith. He had spent his entire lifetime in Hartford City. Surviving are a brother, William E. Chandler of Oshkosh, Wis. and two sisters, Miss Edith Chandler, local teacher, and Mrs. Marie Ketterman, Wife of C. R. Ketterman, of Shideler..
