John (Jack) Boyer
Funeral services for John (Jack) Henry Boyer, 85, Wadena, were conducted at 10 a.m. May 20, 1989 at St. Ann's Catholic church, Wadena, with Father James Hahn officiating. Interment was in the Calvary cemetery with the Johnson Memorial Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boyer passed away May 16, 1989 at Tri-County hospital in Wadena.
Casketbearers were John Boyer, Ben Stevens, John Sandberg, Joe Boyer, Randal Geiser and Tom Brust. Honorary casketbearers were all of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Tillie M. Boyer; children: Betty Harthman, Minneapolis; Rosemary Stevens, Wadena; Ann Sandberg, Janesville; John Boyer, Madison, WI; Benedict Boyer, Gettysburg, S.D.; Julie Geiser, Wadena; Kathy Brust, Rice Lake, WI; Rita Adams, Yucaipa, CA; Jane Geiser, Sillwater; Sam Boyer, Aurora, CO; and Tony Boyer, Wadena; 51 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gregor, San Bernadino, CA; and Ray, Brooklyn Park; one sister, Clare Larson, St. Cloud; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert H. Boyer and several brothers and sisters.
He was born Dec. 7, 1903 at Canby to Bernard and Anna Boyer.
He was united in marriage to Tillie M. Ament, Jan. 7, 1930, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus (honorary) and was a founding member of the ARC.
Mr. Boyer was the owner of Boyers Implement selling Minneapois Moline machinery and equipment. He also operated the Studebaker garage from 1943-1972 before retirng.
A member of this community for over 80 years, he served as Wadena county commissioner from 1958-1970 and was chairman of the county board during construction and dedication of the new county courthouse on South Jefferson.
Jack enjoyed fishing as a hobby.
